As a florist, I follow and subscribe to many other floral companies on social media and in newsletters. I also love crafty and cute things so I stay current on the offerings of etsy, the suggested pins on Pinterest and my favorite paper goods stores. What do they all have in common this week? They are trying to sell me on their Mother's Day products. My inbox overflows with promotions, BOGOs, last minute gifts etc. That is not what this blog post is about. Nor should it be, as we haven't entered one in a while.
Instead, we wanted to take this opportunity to share with you a few thoughts from our core crew at Urban Botanica. Here we honor the women who brought us into this world, whether or not they are still with us, and the lasting impressions they have made upon us.
As a mother of two young children and the daughter of a woman who's lived a life of constant struggle, I often think about the impact my mom has had on me. The lessons I teach my children, whether in line with or opposite of what she's shown me, are always influenced by the relationship between she and I. I try to think of the months leading to my debut on Earth. What did she think of me? What did she want for me? What were her plans for my life, for her life as my mother? When I meditate on that thought, it is so tender and sweet that it prompted me to harass all of my co-workers and Lisa (the mother of Urban Botanica) to contribute the following.

"My mom has shown me the importance of empathy, understanding and patience. I will always cherish the things she has taught me and all that she has done and continues to do for me."
